More then a decade I have grown my experience and knowledge of more and more complex world of computer graphics, design with computers and specially in using new techniques in world of artistic and hi-tech rendered graphics. There are may questions such as how to produce something that is not just another seen rendering ? How to satisfy aesthetic aspects of designers, architects and finally my self as an architect, designer and painter ? The answer is maybe in producing warm and recognizable 'world' of ambient, impressionists touch, or just to produce something that is different and can be judged ...

First step in computer rendering - virtual spaces ...

First, here are some examples of affordable and 'simple' visualizations. Simple because their intention was not to produce accurate 3d models for later analysis (in construction for example or light analysis), but to present simple idea of an architect or designer. The common method to use in these visualizations is known as 'ray tracing' simulation. It is based on global illumination algorithms, usually can give  fine results combined with special effects (for example - light rays) but it has a main disadvantage of not taking in account the diffuse interreflections. Surfaces may look flat and not so realistic . It is ideal for large and complex models specially exterior urban sites and projects.

Want more details ?

When we are looking for 'more' in terms of precision and realism, we must invest more time in developing 3d models, making the virtual scene, assigning  materials and lights. In these example on the left, the model was modeled mathematically accurate and later has been used in computation of sections through the building for use in later construction projects. In Rendering was used ray-tracing algorithm because the model was quite large in terms of normal 3d model, and at the end ray-tracing tech can give the fastest results without sacrificing much in quality of final product.

Realistic visualization ...

The final word in visualization is attempt to simulate real environment. Light propagation in space, diffuse interreflections, all of these aspects of 'real thing' are taken in account here ... The phase of modeling and making of 3d representation of space is here much complex and time consuming than in any other visualization task - method. In the end, the result is crisp, full of details visualization. In these case,  method used for rendering is called radiosity method.

It is derived from raw radiosity algorithm which has added functionality of ray tracing algorithms to provide a very realistic renderings. How it works ? Radiosity method calculates exact amount of light energy and intensity for discrete points in space. In the end result is mathematically exact transfer of light energy in space - these rendering look very realistic and can be used in many ways, like for analyzing light distribution in space or getting hi-quality interior simulations for presentations.

Artistic approach ...

Uniquely yours, artistic approach make the difference between common and  uniform solutions. These renderings require more time and effort but result can be much impressive than any hi-quality rendering. Techniques of rendering are here free combined with imaging and video tools. It's my favorite type of visualization, as you can see ...
