TDF has slightly changed. As it was earlier you could theoreticaly have TDF:=1 only when your number of races were n*12. Now, you can have TDF:=1 at any time, e.g. if you had TDF=1 when you had 12 races, than you will have TDF=1 after 13 races (for sure), after 14 races if you drove last two races on different tracks, after 15 races if you drove last 3 races on different tracks etc.
News (26.09.2003)
Because there were users complaining that the buttons for showing the Ladder doesn't work, I have included code to detect browser.
Now, if the browser is not Netscape or Explorer, instead of buttons there are links. Please let me know if that works now.
News (20.09.2003)
The Ladder doesn't include provisional rated players anymore. Your rating is provisional if you have less than 12 races. You can still see all drivers, just check the "Show provisional rated drivers" check-box.
News (19.09.2003)
The site got first face lifting. The formulas for calculating the points have slightly changed, so that the maximum/minimun points you can get/lose against 1 player is 21 (was 41).
News (16.09.2003)
New version of GPLLUM is ready (version 1.2).
You can start it with a command line parameter (just put anything after gpllum.exe, e.g. "gpllum.exe a").
The program will start, connect and upload all exports and then unload without user input.
The status is written into a log called gpll_log.txt which is located in the same directory as the EXE file.
This is useful for servers which could be scheduled to automaticaly save exports and automaticaly upload them to the Ladder.
News (15.09.2003)
The Ladder will be updated once a day, at about 21:00 CEST. There will be a new info in the table, showing how much places did you go up/down in the past day.

News (09.09.2003)
BIG news. Got an FTP server, so the "Upload manager" can start his life. It is 99% ready and tested, just needs 1% polishing. You can expect it today after 20:00 CEST.
Special thnx goes to Jon Tackabury whos server I use now. Great work, Jon.
News (07.09.2003)
Haven't wrote any news for 5 days, but there are some. Still waiting to get the server, but I should get it in a day or two. Upload manager is ready, just waiting the server. TDF was to low, now it has more influence on your rating. MONSTER rank is still waiting to get the needed info for the car factors. Thnx to all who support this project, I am glad you enjoy the competition.
News (02.09.2003)
Important "feature" has been added to the Ladder rating calculation.
TDF is introduced, Track Deviation Factor. In short, you want it to be 1, because the formula for calculating the Rating is:
Rating = R * TDF
where R is the rating you got using the rating formulas as described before, and TDF is a number between 0 and 1.
For calculating the TDF I used some standard deviation formulas.
Why TDF ? To prevent people specialize in 1 track and have a high rating, or in other words, to award people who drive all the tracks evenly.
How to get TDF to 1 (or near 1) ? Drive all the tracks, the same number of times (or as close as possible).
E.g. If you drove 12 races, and drove all original tracks once, and 1 add-on track, TDF will be 1.
There will be 12 tracks, 11 originals and ANY add-on track. All add-on tracks you drove will be treatet as the 12th track.
E.g. If you drove 24 races, TDF would be 1 if you drove all originals twice and ANY two add-ons once (or 1 add-on twice).
In the table, you will see how many times you drove each track, and the add-ons sum is under the ADD colon.
News (01.09.2003)
The Ladder development has continued. There are some new rules, and I forgot to mention one rule before, but all rules will be sumarized at one page.
Some exports you sent to me had less than 5 drivers, and the minimun is 5, so they are not included.
Also, maximum points you can get/loose in a race is 350 for provisional rating and 250 for established rating.
Next, there will be an "spread factor" which will ensure you can't drive only some tracks and have high rating.
MONSTER rank is getting defined too.
For the "Upload manager" I still need a server, but I hope to have good news here soon.
News (28.08.2003)
Added a lots of race results, and the import program works fine. Also, added some more info to the Ladder list.
The next step will be "GPLL upload manager" a little VB program which will allow sending the results with easy. But my WEB provider don't allows anonymous ftp, so I need a better web host.
So, if there is a host which would kindly offer his service, you are more than welcome.
I will be away from my PC next 3 days, so no news here until Monday. And thnx again to all who sent me the race exports for testing.
News (27.08.2003)
Testing is progressing well. More races added (13 overall), with 122 drivers :)
News (25.08.2003)
First race exports which I got from YOU are in the database.
Thank you for sending the files.
News (24.08.2003)
The testing phase has started. Some VROC races will be used in a period of times to check all the possible problems that may occure.
So, watch out - your name could be here ;)
News (23.08.2003)
This page is shown to the public. The database is being built, and has the functionality to import and process the data to some degree.
You can expect the start of the "Ladder" in the very near future.
